This emphasizes the fact that pop music is listened to strictly for the music, and the lyrics are paid such little attention to. Sure, his tune is catchy, but he is comparing his fame to the Beatles, which I think is not a comparison one that can be made. (at least not one that can be compared to the Beatles!) To be honest, I don’t understand why his song is the number one hit in America right now. I don’t feel that he is an exceptional artist. Rae Srummond, on the other hand, does not seem to have this same contribution to the music industry. I appreciate their music and I appreciate their contribution to Rock. He also compares his recent fame with the Beatles.Īlthough I think it is extremely cool that artists like Rae Sremmurd and Gucci Mane acknowledge the Beatles contribution to the music industry, I do not thing their execution was done well. The Beatles have inspired so many artists, including artists like Rae Srummond who do not perform the same genre as the Beatles did. He is reminding people of their influence on Rock and Roll. Rae Srummurd is using his influence in today’s pop to shine light and recognition on the Beatles. This is a reference to the Beatles song “Hello Little Girl”: “ I send you flowers but you don’t care/ You never seem to see me standing there/ I often wonder what you’re thinking of.” To me, this is pretty genius. This is not just a story about a girl he sent flowers to. I sent flowers, but you said you didn’t receive ‘em (The FREAKING Beatles! As in the most influential Rock and Roll band of all time!) In the intro the Rae Srummund sings: What is a “Black Beatle”? And why is it spelt Beatle and not Beetle? Well, this song is actually a comparison of Rae Srummurd and the Beatles.

It is catchy, contagious, and manifests in the body. Although I cannot identify why this song might be so popular, I can assume it is simply the melody. It may be the repetition of the synthetic backbeat. Why is that? What makes it so appealing to so many people? It may be the rising melody that is in every one of his songs, or the catchy chorus. His song Black Beatles featuring Gucci Mane is currently the number one song in America. Rae Sremmurd has been all over the top charts this year.
